Carillion Secures Third Countryside Contract
24/02/04
Construction and business services company Carillion has negotiated a third project from key client, Countryside Properties, with the design and construction of ‘Radius’, a mixed use development in Prestwich, near Manchester.
The £17.2m project starts on site in March and is scheduled for completion in Q1 2006. It consists of 150 apartments arranged in two five-storey blocks and one eight-storey block. There will be an attractive garden courtyard with cascading water feature at the piazza level, above a retail unit on the ground floor. In addition, the scheme has the added benefit of secure underground car parking for residents.
Environmental considerations have been incorporated into the planning and design of the project with the Radius development achieving a highly-regarded ‘Good’ rating from EcoHomes (the homes version of BREEAM).
The apartments will be handed over in phases, fully fitted-out in accordance with the high standards expected by Countryside Properties. Interiors have been styled by leading British fashion designer, Ben de Lisi, and will consist of leading brand kitchen appliances, stylish bathrooms, luxurious walnut floors and stunning balconies.
Carillion has already built a two-storey marketing suite on site, containing an apartment and sales area, which will remain in constant public use throughout the construction programme.
Carillion Operations Director, Frank Joyce says, ‘We are delighted to have been chosen for this, our third contract for Countryside Properties. We are currently also on site at ‘The Edge’, a £43m residential scheme in Manchester, due for completion in October, and ‘NV Buildings’, a £36m scheme in Salford Quays. The success of these projects and strong working relationship we’ve built up with Countryside has enabled us to negotiate this project, as we also did on the NV Buildings contract.’ |
